However, this is a newer version and it shows. Camping, lockpicking, and healing all are practically begging for you to make macros since spamming them is the only way to use them efficiently, and the inventory system is clunky to put it lightly. On top of that, random encounters are very frequent, meaning that in some places every five steps you take you will run into enemies. The combat system is turn-based and repetitive, cycling through rounds of you firing and brawling back and forth with the enemy until only one side comes out alive. Now, this game is OLD, from 1988 to be precise, and you can feel it. Mutants, robots, bandits, and survivors scraping out an existence in the ashes of the United States is the classic premise Wasteland set. It's an influential title in video game history and you definitely feel it as you play and see different aspects still present today in the genre. In fact, this game inspired the original Fallout, which is considered a spiritual successor of Wasteland. This is THE start of the vision of post-nuclear America seen today. I loved this game, and I'm not basing that off of nostalgia because it's way older than me.
